We got to work on something a little different with this one - upgrading the entrance sign at Lake Carl Blackwell Family Recreation Area. The goal was simple: make it impossible to miss from the highway. Sometimes a sign just needs more presence, and that's exactly what we set out to deliver.

The original setup wasn't doing the location justice. By going in with larger poles, the whole structure gained a lot more height and weight visually. It reads from a distance now in a way it just didn't before. That's the kind of difference that's hard to fully appreciate until you're standing on the highway looking at it.

Then there's the stone work. We used Arkansas Hackett stone for the base wall, and honestly it tied the whole thing together. That material has a natural, earthy tone that complements the log poles without competing with them. It grounds the sign - literally and visually - and gives it a finished, intentional look.

This is a good example of how targeted changes can shift the entire feel of a space. We didn't rebuild everything from scratch. We identified what was missing - scale and a solid base - and addressed those two things specifically. That's usually the most efficient path to a result people are actually happy with.

Whether it's a commercial entrance, a neighborhood sign, or a recreation area landmark, getting the details right matters. The right materials, the right proportions, and the right execution make the difference between something that blends in and something that actually commands attention.
